George Roberts | President and CEO |

George uses his 20 years of corporate and 10 years of nonprofit experience to help build the best organization possible to ensure no homebound residents in our area go hungry. He comes to work each day with a big smile knowing our amazing staff and volunteers share this passion. It is not just a job; we’re on a mission to change lives!

When he’s not serving at Meals on Wheels, you can find him painting in watercolor all over Charleston, enjoying life with his wife Lynne, and grown daughter Melissa.

Chris Brooks | Director of Community Relations |

Chris and this wife, Kathy, moved to Mt. Pleasant in 1984 and raised three children. A Greenville, SC native he loves the coast, but enjoys the mountains even more. He is passionate about gardening, the outdoors and being on the water. Chris retired in 2004 from a great career in State Government in coastal and environmental management. He quickly became involved in nonprofit work, trading environmental advocacy for human needs. ECMOW has provided him the opportunity to make a difference and get involved at a personal level. Having been in this community for so long, he can better support the ECMOW mission and often tells people if you've ever know him, expect a call. He loves to talk Clemson Tigers!

Kelley Chapman | Volunteer Manager |

Kelley is loud and proud. She enjoys being around smiles and laughter. They are contagious. Smiles and laughter are two of the ingredients for the magic made at East Cooper Meals on Wheels. Because she laughes a lot, this has been the non-profit ride she doesn't want to get off.

Knowing our volunteers make our recipients smile and laugh often makes it all worthwhile. She enjoyed working in a previous non-profit where she helped many parents through the trials of bringing preemies into the world. Now, she is helping homebound recipients receive nutritious meals.

Rachel Hamilton | Recipient Services Manager |

Rachel has been living in the south for 3 years now, relocating from San Diego, CA. She has always had a strong passion for public health, working in the non-profit world for over 10 years. Bringing a smile to others has always been an important part of her life and she strives to make each day a great one! Rachel feels it is such a blessing being able to work with others who share her philosophy on life! When not at working at Meals on Wheels you can find Rachel at the beach, hanging with friends, or enjoying the beauty of the south! If she had a super-power it would be flying so she could easily travel all around the world!

Kim Sawyer | Marketing & Communications Manager |

Kim has always been passionate about making a difference. She has several years experience in the non-profit sector, as an animal advocate and an early care and education advocate. Before relocating to the Charleston area, Kim worked in higher education at Old Dominion University, in Norfolk, VA.

On the weekends, Kim and her daughter, Dakota, enjoy exploring the Charleston area. Hiking, going to the beach and visiting local parks are just a few of their favorite activities. Kim is also a huge animal lover and has 3 rescues (2 dogs, 1 cat).

Jenny Ladd | Business and Operations Manager |

Jenny likes to consider herself a “local”, although she knows that you have to live here all your life to gain that title! She has lived in Charleston with her husband, Todd and 9 year old daughter, Emma, for the last 15 years. She and her family live on Daniel Island, and would never consider living anywhere else. An avid lover of the arts, Jenny graduated from College of Charleston in 2000 with a BA in Theatre. Jenny worked as a wine rep and an Operations Manager in Charleston, before moving to Meals on Wheels and the nonprofit sector. Jenny loves working here, and enjoys all the wonderful volunteers and the incredible staff. She goes home every day with a smile on her face!

Kim LeGere | Program Assistant |

In 2009 and straight out of Coastal Carolina University (Go Chants!) with a BA in Art Studio, Kim started working at Meals on Wheels. She’s able to combine her love for helping others and making people smile. As a native, she is blessed to be able to make a difference in the city that she loves and holds dear.

Outside of work, you can find Kim out enjoying the Lowcountry and decorating her home. She loves to travel and loves anything Disney. Kim’s favorite thing to do is spending time with her husband, Adam, their 2 dogs and getting ready for their new baby.

Arturo Suarez | Operations Assistant |

Arturo worked 30 years teaching and coaching and the last few years in service jobs. He believes that Jesus has directed him to his work at Meals on Wheels, where interacting with people, sharing stories, and providing for recipients in need make life rewarding and interesting.

Arturo often whistles while he works. After work, he enjoys playing his guitar, singing watching TV, or going on outings with his wife, Ann.

Nadine Hershey | Accountant |

Nadine moved to Mt. Pleasant over 30 years ago, back when it really was a small town. She jokes that the pluff mud got in her blood and kept her here, and it must be true – losing her husband, three corporate downsizings, she still refused to leave the beaches and cuisine of the Lowcountry. So, she started her accounting business 9 years ago to help small businesses and non-profits succeed. East Cooper Meals on Wheels is her favorite client because of the great staff, wonderful volunteers, and valuable service provided to the community. There is never a dull day at ECMOW. They can even make crunching numbers fun.
