East Cooper Meals on Wheels’ Dining for a Difference will take place on Thursday, Nov. 9 at Harborside East in Mount Pleasant. Doors will open to all guests at 6 p.m. This East Cooper Region themed event invites guests to gather and enjoy signature small plates from local chefs, along with wine pairings, an open bar and the opportunity to win a culinary package from Le Creuset and Berlin’s Restaurant Supply. Guests will travel the venue using a delivery route map. This map will take guests through East Cooper Meals on Wheels’ delivery area of Mount Pleasant, Wando, Cainhoy, Daniel Island, Isle of Palms and Sullivan’s Island while sampling Lowcountry inspired dishes from NAPA, BACCO, High Thyme, Dish and Design and Laura Alberts. Guest will learn about the homebound neighbors served by the organization as they experience each delivery route on their map. Once guests have completed their delivery route map, they will be entered to win the culinary prize drawing.
“People like Phil volunteer for a deeper reason,” says Kelley Chapman, volunteer manager at East Cooper Meals on Wheels.
On March 20 and 21, East Cooper Meals on Wheels invited locally elected officials to deliver meals in honor of the 2017 March for Meals’ annual Community Champions Week. Across the country this week, Meals on Wheels programs have enlisted elected officials, local celebrities and other prominent figures to deliver meals, speak out for those we serve and raise awareness for the power of Meals on Wheels.
