Community champions help raise awareness for East Cooper Meals on Wheels

On March 20 and 21, East Cooper Meals on Wheels invited locally elected officials to deliver meals in honor of the 2017 March for Meals’ annual Community Champions Week. Across the country this week, Meals on Wheels programs have enlisted elected officials, local celebrities and other prominent figures to deliver meals, speak out for those we serve and raise awareness for the power of Meals on Wheels.

This March, hundreds of local Meals on Wheels programs, like East Cooper Meals on Wheels, reached out to their communities to build the support that will enable them to deliver nutritious meals, friendly visits and safety checks to those they serve all year long.

“I’m very pleased to be donating my time to Meals on Wheels. It’s a great program. It’s helping people who are homebound. It also allows Meals on Wheels people to get out and check on these people and give them some personal contact on a daily basis.
