East Cooper Meals on Wheels VolunteersVolunteers are the lifeline of our organization.  Join our dedicated team that donates more than 20,000 years of service each year.  There is no better way to show that you care about your East Cooper neighbors than to help us deliver daily nutrition to them in the comfort and security of their own homes.

If you are able to give two hours each week to our program, you can serve in any one of the several roles listed below:


Operations

Meal Packer: Prepares meals for delivery. 
This includes preparing meals and maintaining a clean work area. 
A minimum of 1 hour one day per week is required. 

Regular Driver: Picks up and delivers meals to recipients. 
This includes making an informal assessment how each recipient is doing. 
A minimum of 2 hours one day per week is required.

Special Delivery Driver: Picks up and delivers donated food and other items to our facility and/or recipients. 
A minimum of 2 hours one day per week is required.

Substitute Driver: Picks up and delivers a nutritious midday meal to recipients.
This includes making an informal assessment how each recipient is doing.
A minimum of 2 hours one day every two weeks is required.

Administrative

Administrative Assistant:  Provides general office support to the staff. 
Activities include greeting volunteer drivers, answering phones, typing, filing, creating forms and assisting with administrative projects.
A minimum of 2 hours one day per week is required.

Fundraising and Development

Gala/Auction: The annual gala/auction, A Meal to Remember, is held in the spring.
Volunteers assist the staff in planning and hosting the event. 
Task include donor solicitation, ticket sales, media relations, publications, venue décor, banquet services, set up/ clean up and clerical support.
                                                          
Golf Tournament: The annual golf tournament is held in the fall at a local private course.
Volunteers work prior to the event and in shifts on the day of the event.
Tasks include donor solicitation, team sponsorship sales, media relations, publications, venue décor, set up/ clean up and clerical support.

Newsletter: The newsletter is published quarterly. 

Volunteer tasks include conducting interviews, writing articles, taking & editing photos and clerical support.
