MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCIV) -- Lowcountry scouts set a record with their annual food drive this year -- more than 6,700 pounds of food.
It's held during the Mount Pleasant Christmas Parade, and the donations go to East Cooper Meals on Wheels and community outreach programs.
This year scout leaders credit a new float - and more man power for the success.
"This year we went over the top," said scouts assistant district commissioner Lucille Watson. "67-hundred pounds of food were collected in the Etawan district."
The scouts not only collected 6,700 pounds of food in Mount Pleasant, they also collected more than 300 meals in the Summerville parade.
Those meals were donated to the Lowcountry Food Bank.
