Will you provide the next meal?

There are approximately six million seniors in America today who are hungry or at risk of hunger. The East Cooper community remains home to a growing number of elderly residents, and your contribution will ensure that we can continue to serve them without charging for meals and without operating a waiting list.

Featured Community Partner

Charleston Chefs Feed the Need has a significant impact on our ability to continue serving meals without charge and without a waiting list.  Each month, a local chef prepares lunch for our recipients, helping us reduce our food costs.  Whether it's southern comfort food or a fancy meal from a downtown restaurant, the recipients look forward to these special meals delivered right to their doors--no waiting or reservations required! This year, Charleston Chefs Feed the Need has been selected as the signature charity of the BB&T Charleston Wine + Food Festival, so if you're attending the Farm Feast Auction or other festival events, you'll be paying it forward by supporting one of our amazing partners!

Creative Ways to Give

Supporting Meals on Wheels doesn’t always have to come in the form of a direct donation. Consider some of these unique and practical ways that you can make a difference:

Corporate Volunteering  |  Host a Drive  |   Meals on Wheels Day at Ladles  |   Support Businesses

Corporate Volunteering

We welcome the opportunity to work with businesses who want to engage their employees in regular volunteer activities. Whether it’s once a week or once a quarter, we can design an experience that will help your employees make a difference in the lives of our recipients.

Host A Drive

Churches, school clubs, community groups and businesses host drives for nutritional drinks and shelf stable pantry items throughout the year. This is a great way to give back.

Meals on Wheels Day at Ladles

Every Wednesday is East Cooper Meals on Wheels Day at Ladles Soups of Mount Pleasant, located at 1164 Basket Weave Drive. Whether you stop in for lunch or dinner, 10% of your total purchase will be donated by owners Erik and Julie Dyke.

Support the Businesses that Support Us

Businesses in our community have an impact on our organization by supplying donations, volunteers and in kind contributions. Consider shopping, dining out or doing business with a company that supports Meals on Wheels, and don’t forget to mention us while you’re there.

A Growing Recipient List

In the month of January alone, we began delivering daily nutrition to 18 new recipients east of the Cooper. This equates to 12% growth when compared to the same month last year.  February has continued to bring in more referrals for new recipients, each of whom rely on us to deliver a hot meal and a smile each day. While we continue to respond without charging for meals and without operating a waiting list, the need for your support has never been greater.
